Humphry Davy Birthday Lantern Parade 2017
Penzance Christmas
Things to do in Penzance this Christmas – come and see the Humphry Davy Birthday Lantern Parade!

Saturday 16th of December will be a day of celebrations and festivities in Penzance. Not only will there be a great Christmas market in town, but the exciting lantern procession is worth seeing. It will start at the top of Causewayhead at 16:30 and work down through to the Humphry Davy Statue. From there it will come to Chapel Street – and where better to watch the fun than from Blacks of Chapel Street.
Thanks to the closing of Chapel Street to traffic there will be plenty of opportunities to walk and explore what this delightful part of town has to offer. There are some great galleries and shops for Christmas gifts and we are open for mulled wine and hot mince pies. Not only that, we will have some seating outside in Chapel Street where you can grab some great food and watch what is happening.
So come on down to Blacks of Chapel Street and check out our Winter lunchtime menu.

Montol 2017
Time to Celebrate Montol 2017
The great thing about this time of year is the chance to take part in a variety of festivities and parties. One of our favourites, simply for the sheer fun of it all, is Penzance’s Montol. Put simply, a reinvention of a traditional Cornish mid-winter customs and practices.

In 2017, Blacks of Chapel Street is delighted to have been asked to help sponsor towards the event. We would like to invite you to join us at the bar and dining room in Chapel Street to watch the afternoon and evening unfold.
First up is the Sundown Procession from the top of Causewayhead which will lead to a gathering for ‘Fire and Song’ in Chapel Street.
The choosing of the Lord of Misrule will happen just above Blacks of Chapel Street, outside the Union Hotel.
Then the main procession will commence at 1800 from Chapel Street with the evening culminating with the late night procession and ‘Chalking of the Mock’ outside the Admiral Benbow at about 10 pm.
So keep yourself energised and warm by visiting Blacks of Chapel Street. We have plenty of mulled cider/wine, hot teas & coffees, mince-pies and our full range of food and drinks available. Check our drinks menu here
Come and mingle and watch a delightful evening’s entertainment in Penzance.
