Castelnau Champagne at Blacks of Chapel Street
We have spent quite a bit of time studying sparkling wines for serving at Blacks, and when it comes to an offering from the Champagne region we are really pleased to be able to stock two delightful offerings from the small family business ‘Castelnau’.
Their story is worth reading, the Champagne house of de Castelnau was founded in 1916 and named in honour of General Eduard de Curières de Castelnau. It swiftly made its reputation during the First World War and now nearly 100 years later we think it is a really great tasting and affordable bottle. So why not come and try some for yourself – we have both the Brut Reserve and the Brut Rose in stock, chilled and ready to serve.

We are really pleased to now have Pusser’s Rum in stock at Blacks of Chapel Street. Not just the ‘standard’ 40% strength but the full on ‘Admiralty’ strength at 54.5% (because we can)….
This goes by the name of ‘Gunpowder’ strength elsewhere in the world and has been compared to being the ‘Malt whisky’ of rums.
So if you enjoy your rums and like to try something with a bit of history then come and sample Pusser’s with us…. Oh yes, we do know how to make a mean Painkiller….

A light drinking slightly dry cider, made with Yarlington Mill and Dabinette cider apples to produce a refreshing drink that works well with our fish dishes.
Well worth checking out their website at www.cornwallciderco.co.uk or follow them @cornwallciderco

5 Stars for Blacks of Chapel Street
Friday 20th February – Blacks of Chapel Street is awarded 5 stars under Food Standard Agency Food Hygiene Scheme.
We are really pleased today to receive the highest standard of food hygiene and best practice in a commercial kitchen. Cornwall Council’s Environmental Health Officer, Martin Holland, visited and conducted an inspection of the kitchen facilities, procedures and staff involved in the handling and preparation of food that we serve at Blacks.
The kitchen team have done a great job in ensuring that the highest standards and best practices are in place. We realise that this is not a ‘one-off’ event and the team will continue to ensure that the scheme’s award remains in place.
