Reopening – December 2020
We’re delighted to be reopening on the 3rd December 2020 after the latest national lockdown restrictions. The great news is that Cornwall is in Tier 1 ‘Medium’ Risk so you can think about joining us for some festive cheer, great food and a wonderful selection of drinks.
Please adhere to Government guidelines on what is allowed.

Eat Out to Help Out
We’re taking part in the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme which means you get our great food with up to £10 off during Monday to Wednesday (terms apply).

Takeaway Menu
We are pleased to be able to offer a new and exciting takeaway service from Tuesday 14th of July 2020.
During the lockdown we have been working hard behind the scenes to come up with new offerings for our customers – new and old. Recognising that not everyone will be able or wish to join us physically in the restaurant we have crafted something a little different for you to be able to takeaway and enjoy in the comfort of your own company.
Whether it be Westcountry mussels in white wine or Orzo pasta with wild mushrooms we have something for every sophisticated taste!
Why not try one of our new seafood sharing boxes? These are packed with fresh local seafood with the option for lobster as well! Because these are using the freshest ingredients we do ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice to source all the tasty elements for you to indulge.
The weather is glorious at the moment, so why not go for one of our picnic ‘boxes’ and enjoy a treat out on the beautiful landscape of West Cornwall – choose from a selection of seafood, charcuterie & cheese or vegetarian / vegan.
You can find out more from the takeaway menu link at the end of this post. All available from Tuesday 14th of July – if you have any questions then please call us or drop us an email – we look forward to helping you get the most from our wonderful local food produce.

Covid 19 Statement
We hope that everyone has managed to stay safe and maintain wellness during the recent testing times. We would like to thank you for all your support and good wishes throughout the period that we have been forced to close. We can’t wait to see you again from early July (currently scheduled for the 4th)!
Your experience may look a little different when you come to join us in this new ‘normal’. Ultimately it will still be our lovely staff caring for you and delivering the same attention to detail and personalised service that you are used to when enjoying food & drinks at Blacks Dining Room and Bar. We would like to reassure you that the safety of our staff and guests is always our first priority and to that end we have put all appropriate guidelines and measures in place so that you can confidently enjoy your time with us.
Please be assured that we are closely monitoring daily developments and taking increased precautions by applying and reinforcing the proper guidelines put in place by the World Health Organisation, Public Health England, UK Government and local public health authorities. In our Restaurant, we have enhanced our already rigorous health and safety procedures with additional cleaning, sanitization and adhering to social distancing. Our staff have been trained to practice prevention guidelines to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus as far as possible.
We will always adapt our service style to adhere to government guidelines as they continue to be updated, whilst physical distancing is required we have adjusted table layouts to allow for the required distancing policy. For the time being, we will be operating with a reduced number of tables, so availability at popular times may be limited.
To enable us to manage this process, allow our team to get used to the “new normal” and to ensure we allocate tables according to our guests needs we would ask that you contact us on 01736 369729, via chat@blacksofchapelstreet.com or through Facebook messenger.
A reminder of the rules (Government website):
“Indoor gatherings are limited to members of any two households (or support bubbles)
Outdoor gatherings are limited to members of any two households (or support bubbles), or a group of at most six people from any number of households.”
A few things that will be different:
- Upon arrival we ask you to wait at the entrance and use the sanitizer adjacent to the door
- Front of House staff will be wearing visors
- A staff member will greet you and show you to your table
- We will dress your table with everything you need upon seating you
- Menus will be printed on recycled paper which will be laminated and available to view on ‘specials’ boards
- There will be various sanitisation points within the restaurant
- Restrooms can be used on a ‘one in one out’ basis.
We love our old building with all its quirks, but this can make it difficult for hard and fast rules. We ask that you please use common sense and be responsible for your own physical distancing during your visit when moving around the restaurant, the wellbeing of both you and other guests is of paramount importance. We will be asking our team to do the same for you.
